SAFEGUARDING

Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults Statement: -

The ethos for this policy is John 13:34 which says a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Agape Simple Church House Fellowship is committed to the safeguarding of children and adults with care and support needs and ensuring their well-being.

ADULT
We recognise that we all have a responsibility to help prevent the physical, sexual, psychological, financial and discriminatory abuse and neglect of adults at risk of harm and abuse and  firstly to speak to the adult involved and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect. We recognise the personal dignity and rights of adults and will ensure we do all we can with God’s help and through his Word to support them.  We believe all adults should enjoy and have access to every aspect of Agape Simple Church House Fellowship.

CHILD
We undertake to exercise proper care in the selection of those who will work with our children with care and support needs whether that be at the main service venue or externally. We believe every child should be valued, safe and happy. We want to make sure that children are empowered to tell us if they are experiencing significant harm.

GENERAL
Anyone being investigated or suspected of abuse or abusing trust in relation to a child or an adult will not be allowed involvement in any activity with us whether that be internal or external until such time as these investigations have come to their proper conclusion.

We are committed to:
Following statutory guidelines in relation to safeguarding children and adults so we will ensure that at Agape Simple Church House Fellowship all volunteers will work within the agreed procedure of our simple safeguarding policy.

Supporting all in Agape Simple Church House Fellowship affected by abuse.

We recognise:
- Children’s Social Services has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a child.
- Adult Social Care has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about an adult with care and support needs.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and it is biblical. Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

We are committed to review this statement annually.

If you have any concerns for a child or adult in our fellowship, then speak to our safeguarding officer Duncan Stewart

Signed - Agape Simple Church House Fellowship.
